100 day project 2016

100 Day Series inspired by artist and author @ElleLuna, who began this project over 2 years ago on Instagram. The challenge has become very popular over the years. I began this project back in 2015, each year has been the same intent - painting per day under 20 minutes (or oftentimes less). The only intent is to get back into the practice of intuitive painting.

Series began April 19 - July 27, 2016.

A couple of series stood out to me here - usually what seems to happen is pretty typical where Days 1-25 are exploring, getting back into the "swing of things" and redoing some of the markmaking from previous. Then around Day 40, next 10 days or so are very much inspired by a trip to the Bahamas with my husband (first vacation in a decade!) where feels more landscape-evoked with brighter colors. Then after that I got really bored (which typically seems to happen after half way mark, around Day 60 or so). This series I found new momentum when I introduced collage elements - the stamps and wasabi tape put a fresh spin and I went with that almost until the very end. The last days in the 90's is fun, there's a couple of really strong and experimental sketches I really like that are pushing the boundaries with space, expressive elements and trying to be simple and modified.

PLEASE NOTE: each painting/sketch is approximately 12x9, 10x10 or 12x18. The "grid" format to display cuts off parts of each painting image but because this seems to be the best way to display all 100 images together, I decided it was OK to give the idea of the image but unfortunately, most of these paintings are NOT square but Portrait Size.
